The 5 Reiki Principles

Just for today I shall not worry

Just for today I shall not anger

Just for today I shall be grateful

Just for today I shall do my work honestly

Just for today I shall love and respect all living things

- Dr Usui

Dr Usui asks us to meditate on these principles daily

Universal harmony exercise

Japanese Reiki recognises 3 main energy centres rather than the 7 chakras.

These are the third eye, the heart and the hara (corresponding to the sacral chakra).
An exercise designed to bring peace and harmony to the body is to place your hands on your third eye and let the energy flow until you feel a connection. Then move to your hara.

Now repeat the exercise in the opposite direction starting with the hara and finishing with the third eye.

Finally move from the third eye, to the heart and the hara.

Reiki is a subtle, Universal energy

The word 'universal' is made up of
'uni' and 'verse' which means
'one song'.

About Sarah

I was born in England, studied law at University College London and subsequently trained as a Chartered Accountant with international firm BDO. My main interest has always been to work with individuals and micro-businesses and this led to me becoming a partner in an accountancy practice in London that specialised in arts and media clients. As one of the youngest female partners in the country I won a business award and I also appeared on tv. I have worked in the financial world for over 30 years. I am the author of 5 books on tax law, have contributed chapters to many more and have written numerous magazine articles.

My spiritual life has been important to me since the age of 5 when I suffered from an unidentifiable lung disorder. Whilst seriously ill in hospital I was guided by God to heal myself. I have spent much of my life processing the events of that time and the interaction of my mind, body and spirit. This led to me train as a counsellor and ultimately to learn Reiki.

I am a Reiki Master Teacher and Practitioner. Reiki helped me deal with endometriosis and the resulting infertility. I subsequently went through early menopause without any dramas. None of it happened quite as I expected, especially as during this time I was drawn to live in New Zealand, but that’s part of the beauty, humour and mystery of Reiki!

Reiki keeps me focussed and centred and is particularly useful in times of stress. I am also privileged to witness miracles on an almost daily basis as I assist my students and clients to heal themselves. I love empowering people to reach their true potential. This may be through recovery from a physical ailment, coping with an unexpected life change, growing personally or learning spiritually.

I am currently the Treasurer of the Waikato Reiki Forum.

I have lots of hobbies and interests including growing organic vegetables, researching my family history, arts and crafts of all kinds, reading and golf.

Reiki positions revisited

The knees - placing your hands on your knees allows the energy to move down your legs preventing it from stagnating in the body. Treating the knees is essential for joint, leg, knee, ankle, foot and mobility issues. It also releases tension connected with our ability to move forward in life.

"I first met Sarah when she taught me Reiki Level 2 in 2009.  From that first meeting I knew she was a wonderful woman and a great healer. I have since been taught Reiki Level 3A by Sarah and have exchanged many healings with her. She comes highly recommended. Sarah is an extremely experienced healer and teacher. Sarah creates a gentle and caring environment wherever she goes!"
